2009 Arctic Sea Ice Minimum
The Arctic experiences is lowest amount of ice cover each year typically around September 15th. Shown here is the current sea ice extent as measured by the NOAA's GOES, POES, and DMSP satellites. Though not expected to be a severe as the last two years, Arctic sea ice extent, concentration, and thickness is still well below average.
